Assuming this trend continues, I wonder what could be the cause? Specifically regarding the split by gender - could it be an impact of male dominance being in decline in certain areas / rise of feminism / decline of patriarchy?

Wondering if there is a link between rise in "nones" and education and intelligence (with it reported that girls have better attainment throughout education than boys).

It's also been widely reported there being a difference between men becoming more conservative and women more liberal (though I note this maybe is only really in South Korea and you've challenged/debunked the assertion that it holds true for USA quite so much).

I'm wondering if young men feeling disillusioned and disenchanted with the economy and perhaps (feeling like) losing their default dominant place in society (where generally being physically stronger has not mattered so much for centuries as we've become more civilised... But arguably domestic violence towards women has also been acceptable or broadly tolerated until much more recently)... Are men turning more to gurus like Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate? And maybe those men are in a minority, but others that dismiss these gurus fall back on the traditions of religion, they've likely been significantly exposed to during childhood?

While on the other hand, women's liberation and increased equality has perhaps lead them to be more dismissive of traditional patriarchal structures like religion, in favour of going their own way?

And is this another thing that has been spearheaded by pandemic causing many people to "take stock" and maybe cause larger changes in trends that would otherwise not been seen?
